Had to put smaller winter tires on my car. Help?

Hey all. As some of you know, I'm the proud owner of a 2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS. No S2000 here, at least not yet!
(I got laid off a few weeks ago too, which doesn't
help. ) Anyway, I got it in a front-end smash on Dec. 14, and it recently returned from the body shop (about a week and a half ago). It's running perfectly as far as I can tell, but I went to get winter tires for it a few days ago, and ran into a problem.

Stock wheels/tires on the car are 205/55-R16s on alloys (Bridgestone Potenza RE92s, which are horrid, but I digress). I opted for a 15" winter tire, so I found some steel wheels from a Subaru Legacy, and brought them to Concord Tire in Concord, NH to mount. A proper -1 for the car is 195/65-R15. Guess what.... they RUBBED. Not much, just a hair on the left-front tire. Interesting.
MANY RS folks get 195s for their cars, with no problems.
My conclusion was that the impact from my hit may have screwed it up. It's about 1/4" off from the other side.
Question being... what can I do about it??? I certainly can't hand over the keys for another period of time to have the body shop check it out.....

I ended up going with 185/65-R15s instead, just a wee bit narrower. The profile's still the same, the sidewall height I mean, so none of the height dynamics are off. Being a bit narrower, they may be somewhat less stable, but I haven't noticed any problems as yet. I took it to nowhere-Vermont the other day to ski, and to nowhere-New Hampshire Sunday to take a winter skid course at Team O'Neil. No problems.

So.... I guess I just wanted some opinions. Have the body shop examine the car? Another question is.... are the stock tires rubbing? I didn't have them check that, but if 195s rub, then are my 205s???

Like, HELP!

The offset might be less on the Legacy wheels, pushing the tires outboard and causing the rub? Just a thought.

Maybe.... But that wouldn't explain why nobody else has the same issue. See the same wheels are used by lots of RS folks who want to do a -1 for winter.
