Default Hard drive problems after rebuild gurus please advise.

Ok my computer crashed recently which led me to rebuild it using Windows 2000 Professional.

Here is my problem:
I have 2 hard drives in the system both 20GB each.
After the rebuild Win2000 only recognizes the second drive as 8GB. What do I need to do to correct this?

TIA

You need to repartition that HD. You can use Partition Magic, which is really easy to use. Unless that one 12 gigs has a lot of bad clusters, which you wouldn't want to use anyways.

You can do the partitionings within Win2K using disk manager.

I tried using disk manager in Win2k but it still says I only have an 8GB drive. I even opened up the system to make sure I wasn't going insane. It says 20GB on both drives but for some reason only the first drive shows up that way.

post a picture of disk management and I might be able to help you. Sounds like you have to activate the partition.

Could also be a BIOS problem. You might want to get your BIOS to redetect the disks...

I checked the Bios it lists it as a 20GB, I tried deleting the partition and rebooting still lists it as a 8GB drive. I think I give up at this point before I blow up the system again. Thanks for trying.
