Hard drive problems after rebuild gurus please advise.

What make and model drive is it? Some Drives have jumpers that limit it to 8GB even if it is a 120GB drive.

Hmm really? But that wouldn't explain why win2k recognized it as 20GB before the crash, and now recognizes it as 8GB after the reload. I didn't move the jumpers. It's a Maxtor, but I'll check the jumpers anyway. Thanks

Brian, no problem, I'll let you know if I need it. Maybe it's time to buy a new drive.

If you are using fdisk make sure you reboot after deleting the partition and before you vreate a new one. If you are using Disk Administrator make sure you commit changes after you delete it.

Is this maybe a formatting problem? Are you trying to use FAT instead of NTFS? If so, try using NTFS and see if you can make a partition the full size of the drive.

use bsd or :gasp: linux.

i agree, switch to ntfs. or gain some worth by going bsd.
