Default Harry Potter insanity

I don't know much about the whole Harry Potter thing (guess I've been living in a hole), but does anyone else find the entire thing to be crazy? Marcus Theaters, who owns over 100 screens in Wisconsin, pre-sold 16000 tickets already today for tonights shows. And some cinema/marketing group is estimating that 1 in 5 screens will be showing HP this weekend. I remember the lines for Star Wars: tPM, but HP blows that away. Although I guess it's good that someone finally made a movie for kids that isn't ultra-violent or profane, and that people might actually watch it.

I'm going to try and catch a late matinee after work next week, hopefully it won't be too mad at that time, I think this weekend will be mayhem!

Looks like an excellent film from the trailers I have seen.
The merchandise is everywhere.

It's definitely crazy. Some of the theatres here in LA had special midnight screenings so that they could show the movie right away (on Fri.).

I don't care about the movie. I tried to read the book but couldn't get through it. I've seen the trailers and it looks like a typical kid movie. The special effects that everybody is raving about also look pretty cheesy. Lots of CGI but it looked very weak.

My buddy is a big fan. Took his kids out of school today to go see the opening. I will wait for him to buy the DVD and then I'll borrow it.
