I've seen B1s at several airshows and they are loud, although not as loud as the B52. The B1 is a very impressive bird, particularly with the variable geometry (swing wing). They absolutely kicked ass in Afghanistan. Two years ago at Edwards AFB I saw a B1, a B2, and a B52 flying together low in tight formation. Now that was impressive.

The B1 is such a cool looking plane. Never had a chance to hear one, though.

B1s and B52 are loud as Raptor stated. I've heard all that he mentioned minus the B2.

Growing up I lived under the runway approach for dulles airport. lots of loud military aircraft, till some laws were passed and they had to start going over the highway instead.

Now I live under the runway approach to moffet field, and get a lot of planes flying in and out...especially for a closed airfield

Growing up in Reno in the 60s, I'd routinely hear planes from the Nevada Air National Guard fly over us at tremendous speed...I used to really love watching the china cabinet shake after the sonic boom hit!

When I was younger, I was on a canoeing trip on the Potomac River - saw / heard / felt a couple of A-10's flying the contour of the river, about 150ft off the deck. That was impressive.
