has anyone ever been to ferarri...
I was lucky enough to arrange a private, english-language guided tour of the Ferrari factory two years ago... It was fabulous! I've been to other car/bike factories, including Lotus and Ducati (near the Ferrari factory, BTW), but Ferarri was truly special. Immaculate production lines, unbeleviably beautiful rolling works of art. Eye-popping dollars worth of F-40's, F-50's, 355's, 456's and 550's. No test drives...
Unfortunately, it is not easy to get into the factory unless you own a Ferrari or have a deposit down on one (which I did not). If you do, just contact your local Ferrari dealer, who will request proof (like a copy of your title or registration) and they will arrange a tour. I kinda didn't take no for an answer, and contacted Ferrari North America headquarters directly. I explained to a very pleasant administrator of the VP of Customer Relations that while I did not currently own a Ferrari, I was hopeful that someday I would and would really love a tour of the Factory. Voila, the next day, I had my fax confirmation.
There is a Ferrari Museum in the town that is also pretty cool, with lots of classic Ferrari's and race cars. Open to the public on a typical Italian schedule.
There was also a great Inn outside of Modena, relatively close to the factory town of Maranello. If your interested, I'll try to remember or look up the name of it...
