I happen to be going to Italy for a couple of weeks, staying in Florence, and I was wondering if anyones know if if is possible to tour the Ferrari factory, and maybe even get a test drive. We are strictly on holiday, so I do not have any schedule, so anytime would be okay. Let me know the details. I will be there June 20th until July 4th.

seriously, I've heard it's very difficult, if not impossible to get beyond the reception hall of the factory. But if you do a search on ferrari websites, you'll find out more about the museum (I think there's one) and the test track (there's a point where you can see the cars passing by).`

For my magazine we're trying to get access to the ferrari wind tunnel, which was designed by famous architect Renzo Piano, but it's not that easy to take pics of it...

the answer is pretty much 'no', and it might even be difficult to get a tour of the factory even if you are there to watch a few steps of your new Marinello, Modena, or even F50 being built. that, in itself, is an option you have when buying a Ferrari, which costs a bit more as you can expect.

now, grand prix tours (not sure of a site, they just send me mags), who also does accomodations (minus tickets and airfares) to NASCAR, F1, CART and IndyCar races, has a tour of the Ferrari plant, however, they are booked solid for the next few years, so if you want to take a tour of the factory in say... 2005, then make your reservation NOW!

Why not take a sidetrip to Stuttgart and tour the Porsche factory, or do you have to buy a car to get in there as well?

Hey Ivs 2k, that is a good idea. I had only planned on going to Italy, but I have a foreign exchange student that will be staying with us from Struttgart and I can go visit her. I was afraid that checking out the Ferrari factory was a pipe dream, but boy will I be close. Oh well. Thanks for the input.
