Default Has the internet changed you?

More specifically, i wanted to get people's opinion on social networking (online), internet forums, facebook, etc.. With most people networking online these days, i was just wondering if it has made you better, whether it be professionally or socially.. To be honest, for me, i think i've lost or maybe have not gained better social skills. Now that im out of the office and work remotely, it can get solitary sometimes. I know there have been social scientists that wrote about how the internet is re-wiring our brains for the worse (socially). I mean, i am not a hermit, but i dont interact with people as much as i used to; not to sure if this is due to being online or not.

The internet has made me more aware of things since information is literally at your finger tips.

I do understand where you are coming from with the wholel social networking thing. It has been great for people from all around the world getting together in one place (forums) and chit chatting. I do think it is somewhat taking the face to face social interactions among people down though. Just as texting is causing people to not want to talk on the phone anymore. People would rather text than talk, and that's just stupid to me. Especially when it is taking 20 texts to take care of something that would be handled in 20 seconds of actual live conversation.

I think that the internet has been in my life for most of my good years. I'm 25 now and probably have used the internet since 14 or 15 years old. Needless to say, I don't have much to compare to. However I suspect I might have lost some deeper connections with people, and have developed more relationships but also more superficial.

I really like watching "That 70s Show" and makes me sad that I couldn't live in an era like that were things seem more simple, at least when it comes to "hanging out."
