Default HD DVD player

I bought a HD DVD player and so far I am very impressed with the picture quality. Makes me not want to buy regular dvd anymore. I love HD but I am really having a hard time finding HD movies. I went to many stores and it seems that its competition Bluray disc outnumber HD dvd. Bluray has a lot titles to choose from. I heard that Bluray is winning and right now I am having second thoughts about my HD player. I am thinking of return it and get a Bluray player. HD player is cheaper but I rather start a collection of movies disc that won't discontinue in the future.

They have the technology. I read about it before any players were even released...but I don't remember ever seeing them for sale.

this is the problem with buying into technology early, i myself have an hd-dvd player for the xbox, for $200 when i bought it made a lot of sense, it was the cheapest route when you had 1,000 blu-ray players on the market. HD-dvd is slowly picking up again, especially with the support of paramount and dream works recently. it takes time but i think hd-dvd will win, i think hd has a better more natural looking picture than blu-ray, but time will tell.

IMO, return that HD and get a Blu Ray. In the future, Blu Ray will take over and HD will phase out, not worth the little cheaper price. I think Blu Ray is not only winning but has pretty much won, considering the amount of support it has.

In the electronic market, demand almost always goes toward the technologicaly (sp) superior product, which in this case is Blu-Ray.

Your talking about (theoretically, in time) a max space of 60GB for the HD-DVD and about 200GB for the blu-ray dvd.

Also according to this:

Blu-ray has much more support then HD-DVD.

*COUGH* betamax *COUGH*

The winner is by content for media playback. . . Sony made that mistake only once. Hence, the tie-ins and buy-ins by and with the content providers.

Blu Ray has not won. HD DVD software sales jumped 10% the weeks after Paramount and Dreamworks announced they were leaving Blu Ray. Last I checked it was 60/40 BR/HD with regards to software and HD DVD standalone players are outselling BR standalones.

Sony better get some actual games out for the PS3, cause that's the only thing keeping them in the lead right now.
