NFRs...that was excellent information. I'm not busting on you, but DAMN, all I want to do when I buy a +$1500 tv is turn it on and enjoy it!
With this burn in scheme, you're looking at atleast 12 days of post-purchase setting up.

Hey listen, when you bought your s2000, did you do the 600 mile no VTEC break in?

My answer to that would be I broke it in, in less than a day

If you like it, thats all that matters, but out of the three, its not even a contest.
I went out today and did the deal. After far too much looking at the different 32 inch sets (the largest set that would fit into the corner spot I needed it to go in) and agonizing over the picture quality on each scene on the Best Buy TV loop I decided on a Philips LCD. To these blood shot eyes it looked the best when compared to the Panasonic and Sharp models I compared it to. What I found out while I compared them made the job even harder. It seems like the store staff or other customers had gone in and jazzed up the color levels, so after spending and hour or so I just made the call on a "gut feeling". I found the prospect of spending $1100 for the set, a HDMI connection cable, and 3 year warranty a bit unsettling, but it is what it is. After spending some time with the set it seems to be fine, but time will tell if it has issues or not. On the face of it, it has a better picture quality than did the Trinitron.
I called Comcast and I will need a set top box to get HD and it will add another $6.00 bucks a month to the cable bill, so that's not too bad I guess. Thanks for your input and help even though this was a duplicate thread.

That's funny because it's rated as one of the best pictures on the market. You should spend a little time on some real AVS forums instead of posting some urban legend BS about how to extend the life of your plasma.
Ok there.... enjoy your DLP. Glad to know we got pros like you to give us valuable info.
