Samsung DLP is crap compared to any of the other options. I wouldn't go so far as to say "all DLP is crap." In fact, Panasonic DLP is rather good.
If anyone is looking for a TV, call the panasonic help line. They themselves (a company that produces all three technologies) will tell you plasma is the way to go. Their top shelf plasma is 1200 bucks.

Yeah, when in doubt call some call center employees that probably make a little more than minimum wage and sit in a call center. I would be hesitant on whether Panasonic's recommendation is for the best picture quality or whatever adds the most to their bottom line.

Panasonic plamas are CHEAPER than their LCDs. Why would they recommend plasma then? Like I said, buy what you want. All tvs have their flaws. If you want a reliable TV, get a tube. DLPs have bulbs that burn out. Plasmas have burn in. LCDs have ghosting. They all have flaws.

I dont understand some people...why would you ask for advice if you dont listen to it?

it's not a question of what technology is best. It's that the better DLP sets are better than some of the plasma sets in some areas that are important to people. There could well be plasmas that are better than the best DLP's. That's not an issue.

Im definetely not comparing a good DLP to a Costco Vizio plasma. Im talking about the panasonic/pioneer models that go for $1100 online with free shipping.

Who knows what their profit margins are? I just thought it was funny that you think the Panasonic help line is the ultimate authority!!!

I have a cheap LCD that I got the day after Thanksgiving. I know it's not the greatest, but it was damn cheap and I think it has a great picture. I can also watch a lot of sports and play video games on it without setting a timer so I don't get burn in. Plasmas aren't for everybody.

I agree. This guy appears to act like he is the end-all of knowledge on great televisions. He thinks there is plasma and then there is everything else. That is fine and that is his opinion. However, it doesn't make him right.

I'm starting to think he had some extra special romance with a plasma and now he's in love.

We started shopping for an HDTV a while back. Consistently, the TVs that would draw our eyes and cause us to spend most time in front of them were Mitsubishi's new 1080p DLPs. Nothing else looked nearly as good. So we got the 52" model and absolutely love it. YMMV.
