I feel that's it's OK to be straight.

try an agent..it is not cheap but its available
Shouldn't cost you to use an agent. They get a kickback from the insurance company. You could try Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United Health, Aetna, those are all national companies. Also look for some local HMO's. They might not have better rates, but you can never tell. Good luck with the search!!
GET her insurance, I wish I had gotten my wife her own policy (putting her on mine would be $400 a month extra! so I didn't do it, and she isn't offered insurance at work) she had to go to the ER recently, and had to get an MRI..lets just say I have just payed off 2 of the 3 g's i owe to the Hospital.....
and F***k insurance companies and their preexisting condition policies, the people who need help can't get it without paying an astronomical premium, often more than what it would be out of pocket!!!
Universal Health care FTW!

When you insure someone with an existing condition, you're essentially asking everyone else in that group (everyone else that company insures) to pay for your medical bills with higher premiums.
Higher taxes and sub-standard care! Only months away if we're lucky.
At any rate, Blue Shield's PPO is pretty good. I pay $110 a month with a $35 co-pay and $6m lifetime max.

I want to see what you have to say after your wife will have to wait in line 8 hours for her "free" MRI

You do understand the concept of insurance, correct? A group of people share risk, each contributing their fair share for the risk they add to the group, in order to offset unseen expenses?

the 400 dollar monthly is for a family plan, I am only offered individual, or a family option, no spousal only. I think the 400 would be very reasonable if I had a wife and two kids. But i don't.
I'm all for health coverage, I have never been without. in some instances I just wish it were more affordable. thats why i state, get health insurance if you can afford it.
the whole universal health care thing is another debate for another topic
