Default heat wave

``Take as much of your clothes off as you're legally allowed to do,'' New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani told reporters at his daily briefing. ``I emphasize the last part of that -- legally allowed to do.''

In the heat (as long as you are in the shade) you are always better off naked, that way the wind blows all around you and keeps you cool. My boss tells me that many years ago the army did a study out in the desert to prove that you stay cooler naked.
...I can see it now, we attack an enemy with a platoon of naked soldjers.

I think if our Mayor (Kirk Watson) said that, we would have quite a few naked people running around Austin; as our high temperatures have been in the triple digits for about three weeks now except for a couple of days ago when it dipped down to the upper ninteys for two days.

With a humidex of 45C ( can someone convert to F?) up here in Toronto, I guess it dispells any rumours that we live in igloos

Uhhhh, John, we already have naked people all over the place in Austin, we don't need the mayor to tell people here to get naked and freaky!

Don't you live next door to Hippie Hollow???? You should see your fill of naked people all the time!

This is the heat wave of this year, but back in '98 Texas had 60 consecutive days of 100 degree + heat, and that does not include the heat index.

I remember being in Houstin, Dallas, and Austin during a week of that, and yes the less clothes the better

Yep, 1980 and 1998 were miserable in Dallas. Much worse than many can imagine.. two days in a row at 113F with a heat index off the chart (130+) in 1980.

Here is how crappy hot it can be in North Texas..
