Here's something recent that really sticks out in my mind...

Last year, after a fairly wet June, the summer was bone dry. Zero rain a DFW airport for 84 straight days. (July 1 - Sep 23.) The hottest day was over Labor Day Weekend (Sep 1 - 4.) Teps reached up to 112 (I remember somebody saying 113 degrees.) This was measured at the official weather stations at local airports. That weekend I spent nearly entirely outside at the American Le Mans Series race at Texas Motor Speedway. First, of course, the air was blistering hot. Second, you should realize, this was at a race track, inside a NASCAR oval, with little wind, little shelter, lots of concrete and asphault, and lots of race cars running around. I can't figure out how to describe hot hot it was. I must have drank three or four gallons worth of water, and I was really grateful that I brought along a little mister to keep some water spraying onto my face. The actual temp in the paddock must have been over 130. I can't imagine what the heat index was.

Recently, it's been in the high 90s for a while, maybe a few days over 100, I'm not sure. I haven't been paying attention to the news much lately. Sure, it's hot. But this summer feels rather cool to me, actually.

We're baking out here in Boston. It's so hot, it almost makes you want to stay inside and not go out in the stook (Notice I said "almost.")

Yes it has been hot in Dallas, but the temps have been about average for this time of year. 98 high / 78 low. I just keep thinking about the winters I will miss in Mpls. MN. Traded winter for summer but some how getting in the pool with an "adult beverage" versus putting on gloves, storm coat, boots, etc. to out in -30 is a no beaner!

Is that something new?
Sorry couldn't resist, I've been in England for the three days of summer a couple of times.
