Heel-Toe...what shoes?

Default Heel-Toe...what shoes?

I have the original puma speed cats and I really like driving in them. The pedal feel is really good and all of that. The only trouble is, they don't seem to be wide enough to heel-toe when braking and downshifting. I have wider shoes, but they are too wide and the soles are too thick (just my gym shoes). Can anyone suggest a good set of driving shoes that are wide enough to heel-toe, but not so side they are clumsy.

I had the same problem, and ended up getting puma tour cats which were a lil bit wider than the speedcats I had.

Thanks, I'll check those out...

Seems like the Tour Cats are on clearance or discontinued. Anyone try any that are currently out? It looks like my size was popular so the ones on clearance aren't in my size.

You have to adjust your heel-toe style. Instead of using the right half of your shoe, you almost have to deliberately roll your ankles and get used to actually using the side of your pinky toe to hit it. Leaves a nice wear mark right where the leather strip is on all the Pumas.

I used to have trouble as well, but I got it down pretty well now. I'm a wearer of Speedcats and Future Cats. Looking to buy another set of Future Cats (really comfortable for me, much moreso than the Speedcats) or a set of Trionfos. Yeah, I'm addicted.

My speedcats are beat (had them a while now) so maybe I'll check out the futurecats.

I never learned to heel toe before, so it has been hard in these shoes. Are the futurecats a little wider?

I personally like the addidas shoes...the ones with the good-year logo...it has this rubber patch on the side of my foot, that helps with heel and toe.

Future Cats have a narrower sole.

Thanks for the input so far. I really like the look of the Pumas, but I'll check out the Adidas.

Ran into the same problem myself. Had been using the Reebok Drivers, which are the same style as the Puma SpeedCats (tried on the Pumas at a store and they felt pretty much the same).

My solution was a pair of Piloti Prototypo. Piloti shoes were designed by someone who drives. I think the Reebok and Pumas were designed by someone who looked at a picture of driving shoes.

The Pilotis have an extra brace on the side of the shoe specifically designed for heal-toe...and the ball of the shoe is stiffer, so it communicates brake feel to your foot way better than the Reeboks did.

They are a bit more expensive (OK...a lot more expensive) but I'm not going to go back.

I went through this about 2 months ago. I purchased the Addidas Adi-Racers first. They are very good and wider than the Pumas. I received alot of thumbs up on the Future Cats from Puma and finally found some local. Also an excellent shoe with awesome pedal feel but they suck for walking. The Addidas on the other hand, were excellent for walking and don't look half bad outside the car.
