Default Help, I have a virus!

I have Windows XP. When I click on the start menu button, all I get is a blank outline of the block of items that you can usually select from. Basically, everything comes up, but it's all invisible. I have to guess where things are in order to use my programs, and it's pissing me off!

I have run the latest versions of spybot, adaware, ghostspy, and spyhunter. None of them could detect whatever is making my start menu invisible. I've rebooted and played with the start menu options multiple times, and I'm out of ideas.

Can someone help me regain control of my computer????

I think you are right...you have a virus (and not spyware). If it is the problem that I am thinking of, it is a virus that makes the letters the same color as the start menu (and therefore, invisible to the user).

Try an up-to-date virus scanner (ie: Norton Anti-Virus, McAfee)
