Default Help - IE not working!

Here's the situation. We have an HP and just got high-speed cable internet for it. For the first few day, we were using just IE. I downloaded Firefox and was using that primarily, although IE would still work too. Now, IE will not work. It'll open, but I get a message about the page can't be displayed.

Any idea why Firefox would work but IE won't?!

Thanks!

Yeah... except opposite for me... On my computer at home firefox will not work but IE will? Everytime I pull up firefox it shuts down saying some kind of error and if i want to report it to mozilla. I even tried uninstall and reinstall. I have current norton antivirus 2005.. with scans every week and regualrly run adaware, cws shredder, spybot.

JerseyGirl - double check to make sure that you haven't enabled a proxy server under "Tools" "Internet Options" and "Connections" tab. Then click on the "LAN Settings" button. You shouldn't have any boxes checked. If you dont see anything odd there, it might be spyware.

ccarnel is on the right track - you'll need a "layered" approach to spyware detection. http://spywarewarrior.com/asw-test-guide.htm "Even the best-performing anti-spyware scanner in these tests missed fully one quarter of the "critical" files and Registry entries".

Dave, I double checked that part & nothing there is checked.

What I don't get is that a few days ago (probably 3 days), both IE & FF were working fine. I don't recall doing anything that would make one not work and I know my husband didn't mess w/ any of the settings. Just seems wacky that IE won't work, but FF will.

I have this same problem. Can you go to secure sites? I get the "This page cannot be displayed" message to with unsecure sites. I can go to secure sites just fine. Try going to paypal or some site like that and let me know if it works.
