You may be familiar with the actor John Rhys-Davies (Indiana Jones, Shogun), or the cellist Rhys Campbell--we didn't know of him when we named our son. Honestly.

(The first day he was in pre-school--he was four--I went to collect him and one of the teachers came over to me. "How is your son's name spelled?" she asked.

"What did he tell you?"

"Well, he said 'R-H-Y-S', but that can't be right!"

"The kid knows how to spell his own name," I told her.

A week later when I came to collect him again she walked over and apologized. She'd been reading a trashy romance novel (TRN) and it had a character named Rhys.)
