Thumbs up Help me turn this into...

Any idea how I can turn this:

into this?

They are exactly the same, but the latter has a long "trench" in the middle to fit into the ridge of the battery slot. It's a marketing sham to get people to buy different batteries for different camera models. I just found the former on clearance and would like to use it for my Alpha camera.

I know there are a lot of you who are quite the handymen. I have no idea how to even begin. Much thanks and appreciation!

Probably easier to grind down the ridge in the camera than it is to create a groove in a battery.

Most likely the ridge is plastic. Get a good sharp chisel, and go nuts.

Wear eye protection.

The LFA is overpriced for what you get.

Thanks! It had come across my mind but I'd rather throw that battery away than to mess with my semi-expensive Alpha camera. I found that battery on clearance for $4 at Sears; retail price was $60. Anyway, I will try a chisel; but what about a hot chisel to melt the plastic?

Yes, the word on the tip of my tongue was "groove", but "trench" kept coming through. Synonyms, regardless.

Screw you and your inability to afford the LFA, thus making your perception meaningless. I keed.

You absolutely sure there's no battery cell inside you'll be cutting into?

And that the output and specs of the batteries are the same?

I got Rick rolled. LOL!

Yes, output, input and specs are the same (rated mAh, that is). Same battery, minus the groove, so I'm pretty sure no cells right under the surface.

I'll begin tonight with a chisel. Fun $4 project! LOL! Thanks.

Maybe you can take off the plastic casing before you go nuts!
