Default help name of a certain plastic?

i am trying to find this certain plastic, i had a friend in college use this tytpe of plstic and cannot remeber the exact name for it, its killing me. I need to buy some asap and dont know what its called.

the plastic is transparent and hard. It is a nice material for art sutdents to use as for a project, cause you can cut it and it wont shatter.

please anyone that knows the name for it and maybe where i can get locally like in big chain stores?

Sounds like plexiglass (acrylic glass). A lot of people use it to make sub boxes. is that what you're looking for?
