I have the opposite kind of story to narrarate. We got a reservation at Union Square Cafe a month in advance, thus was 9 years ago. We had to call every week to reconfirm and 48 and 24 hours before. We went to take my sister and bro in law for their 1st anniversary. At the end of a great meal we ordered a dessert. Our awesome server told us she had a surprise. She proceded to bring us one of every dessert on the menu on the house! It was unforgettable. We tipped her big and it made the occasion.

Sorry guys. It supposed to be over a decade...I washed dishes at a family friend's place when I was 11 to earn a few extra bucks. I gotta change that. Thanks for the catch!
