Off-topic Talk Where overpaid, underworked S2000 owners waste the worst part of their days before the drive home. This forum is for general chit chat and discussions not covered by the other off-topic forums.

here is an example of a $25k house in my area.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...2383226326&rd=1

it says it has 5 bedrooms, but we'll just call it three and not count the 3rd floor....... it has some ugly yellow paint in the kitchen, appears to have a forced hot air furnace (not radiators, so that is good), 1970's wood paneling on the walls (yummy), and hell....it's got a bay window in that one picture.... and you can walk right down to the mighty susquehanna river in less than a minute......

Their bid price is $24,900, but I would bet that I could get it for under $20k..... then spend $2k-4k painting and other misc things......(it is not very pretty from the outside...so it needs some painting there too) then rent it for $600 / $625 per month.

I wouldn't rent it as a 5 bedroom due to it only having one bath.... that would be torture on the bath and everyone using it...

That's funny stuff. A place like that in NW Washington, DC would be $600K minimum (though, it would likely be well-maintained and much nicer). I wouldn't be shocked to see it go for $750K in a good neighborhood. $20K for a whole house, though? That's unreal. We just put $5K worth of stone counters in our kitchen, and we have a little 2BR condo. Location, location, location...

Its a forclosed property. I doubt private sales are remotely close to that price.
