? Geez, I dunno what you should do...create a steel tent over them? Obviously the convert needs to be inside, but I don't think there's much else you can do besides throw a car cover on the ones outside to protect from minor debris.

I would say unplug everything in your house, maybe even shut down your circuit breaker if you can deal without power for a while if you're expect some serious damage?

Good luck, wear a helmet!

Board up the windows if you can and id suggest unplugging everything...cant hurt. I dont know if flooding is an issue at all but if so, I would suggest putting more expensive and more important items high up to avoid any water damage.

Oh, cmon....you're worried? In CS?

I live in Angelton. It's heading right for us as a cat 3. by the time it gets to you guys, (gig'em!, btw) it'll be a cat 2/1.

As much as I'd like to go to CS to beat the hell outta Ike, I've gotta go with my family to that town with that other little school, with all the tea-sipping hippies.

anyway man, good luck. Hopefully I'll have a home to come back to

I would worry more about that awful football team in College Station than Ike.

I'm quite certain that if I lived in an area terrorized by hurricanes or tornadoes, that I would have a reinforced safe room in the house where all of my most valuable items (and people) would be in the event of danger.

I'd GTFO instead. Stuff is insured. There's no sense in staying behind with/for it. Make sure you car is full of gas, grab your most important stuff (I have a fire safe with all important paperwork, wedding pictures, cash, etc) and go. It's not necessarily the hurricane that will get you, it's the aftermath. Be part of the solution by leaving, not part of the problem by staying and having to be rescued. You can always buy more stuff.
