I actually WORKED as a phone solicitor in college. I lasted four nights.
Let me tell ya, it was no fun.
I screen most calls, but I'm always polite when I do get one -- I just tell them "no thank you" and hang up.
Remember, there's a real person at the other end of the line.

Yes... but honestly i dont appreciate someone calling me everyday speaking spanish to me and then later speaking english.

Basically what happens...
They ask to speak to someone in spanish of course...
Then i say NO ONE IS HERE BY THAT NAME... so then of course they change to english
and start asking me about my long distance..
sorry i have no pitty for these people..
im sure they get their share of F off daily

Just venting... sick and tired of it

Haven't some states passed legislation controlling phone solicitation? It seems we're approaching critical mass in this area.
I screen calls with a message requesting that solicitors place me on their "do not call" list..it seems to work for a short time, then the calls begin again. They seem to come in bunches.
I just flash back to my four nights vainly trying to peddle Time/Life books and am overcome with pity...but it's a button-pusher, that's for sure.

Four nights? I tried a job as a telemarketer and lasted four hours before I called it quits. I'd rather be a fluffer for animal porn than have to earn a living by pestering people during their dinner trying to sell them something that I don't even want.
