I don't know about it being a smart move, but there will certainly be a major lawsuit, if not criminal charges.

well that sucks..... you must have to drink an awful lot of water to do that, or she had a preexisting condition of some sort?

I know i drank a full pitcher (approx 64 oz) of water in under 3 minutes with no issues.... but I guess she could have been a small person?

There was a Christian group that had some sort of drinking contest a couple of years ago. Sort of like drinking a 'shot' of water every few minutes. They assumed water was safe since it's non-alcoholic. Some kid died doing it. Same thing, water intoxication.

Who would have imagined something like that would have happened with water? I sure wouldn't have.

What happens is that the water is absorbed into the bloodstream from the stomach. From the blood stream it goes to the body. In the end you have too much more water than salt in your body that can soak it up. Then the water goes into the cells that have more salt at this point compared to the non cellular part. The cells swell and stop working and your nervous system stops functioning. THe swelling of the cells can get so bad that they essentially pop and die.
A person with 2 healthy kidneys can get rid of 4/10's of a gallon of extra water/ hour. It would have taken about 8/10's of a gallon of water in one hour to kill her.
