Home school = for SO many reasons.

Agreed that Public School has it's downsides, but home schooling has about 10 times more downsides.

. . . for example, its failure to teach the difference between and proper use of "it's" and "its".

That is not a proper sentence.

i dont know what office managers you know, but the reason why the Office on nbc is funny is cuz most bosses dont have good people skills. they usually know the right people and get placed there.

Sorry public school fans, I've met more socially inept kids in public schools than any home schooled kids. I coached athletics at public and private schools and they are full of mentally brow beat kids, unable to think for themselves due to a school system that does all their thinking for them.

I guess all the problems at schools, shootings, stabbings, drugs and verbal/physical abuse count as as a positive school enviroment. Our schools are out of control and I'm sorry our test scores prove my point when compared to Europe!

There are many associated problems related to our problems in schools, poor parental influence ( or none at all). A system that worries about it's image more than it's students and teachers that are handcuffed by our legal system when it comes to classroom discipline.

Small wonder concerned parents are turning to alternatives to public schools.

People are lazy and parents expect the school to do a lot for them. We need individual attention paid to student, let them all be individuals but teach them the necessity of a team.

Responsibility and not being lazy are key.

There is so much ignorance in this thread it's not even funny.

Home schooling is going to be like it is for most things in life, it works for some people and for others it does not. I've read so many generalizations in this thread it's ridiculous. Parents need to do their research on home schooling before making a decision to keep their child at home. Parents also really need to understand their child and his or her needs.

From that point forward, the parents have to monitor their child's development whether being in a formal school environment or being schooled at home.

My son is 16 months old, and I will have a another son in June. It's a decision I'm going to weigh carefully. I also have a 11 year old step daughter in my house who attends what is considered a good public school system. I'm completely unimpressed, and feel that if we chose to home school her, she'd be no worse for wear.
