Honda Recalling 2001 Civics
I read several of you have Civics, thought I'd post:
Per Speedvision, Aug 30
Honda is recalling more than 120,000 Civic sedans and coupes from the 2001 model year to check for a potential problem at the extremities of the vehicles' fuel systems. The problem is a hose clamp that secures the filler tube leading from the fuel filler cap to the tank. Some of these clamps may not have been properly tightened at the factory. In a collision, the inadequate clamping force of an under-tightened clamp could allow the filler tube to break free. This, in turn, could permit fuel spillage, which could lead to a fire. Dealers will check the clamps for proper tightness and torque them to the proper specification if needed.

Damn, Honda is sleeping at quality control these days. That's no good, it's disgraceful in fact. What more is there to say? The R&D is nutz, now the QC is failing it's job. I wonder what is next. Honda, please buck up.

Wow. Chill out guys. This is called "appeasing the lawyers" - the problem probably only occurs on 1 in a 1000 cars, but it only takes 1 person to sue for millions of $$$ in damages, so in the long run it's cheaper to recall them. It probably takes a dealer 2 minutes to look at it and another 2 to change it out if need be.
