When my neighbor's '91 Integra 4 door was broken into at the airport with the ignition jimmied, the police told her that the thieves were about a minute from being gone with her car and were probably interrupted while they were messing with it. They told her that her car had most likely been targeted because it was inconspicuous and would-be robbers/drug dealers like that! They chose the cars that ARE hugely popular because they are a dime a dozen and aren't likely to be spotted after committing a crime, thus the most popular cars have higher insurance rates.

Nice, eh?

The last year I had it, my '92 Accord EX was #2 on the list. Nice to see that now that I have the '94 EX, I've dropped to #6... Will my insurance never decrease???

1989 Chevrolet Caprice

Why? So they can look like they're driving a cop car?

It has to do with parts demand. The more of a particular fender on the road, the more they will be stolen. Sex appeal and logic do not factor in these numbers.
