Too small for the US, but shows Honda's committment to continuing this theme...

In order to continue its sucess in Europe, Honda need to develop a diesel engine! honest, in some countries diesel sales account for half of new car sales, even in the UK, where we tend to shun diesels Jaguar has realised they need to have one in forthcoming models, as sales creep over 20% of all sales!
wierd

I started out in Fiat 850s for sports cars and never thought that they were too small. Lack of power and reliability was what generally made them nsuitable for the U.S. market. Things are looking smaller now (with the stupid exception of SUVs) and, while small, I think this would fit into the U.S. market nicely - except that noone would know how to drive a 660cc engine properly...
Hmm, where can I test drive one outside Japan now? Oh yeah, apparently it will be in Australia late 2001 around November or December. At least it's a targeted range against the Toyota MRS Spyder or Mazda Miata MX5?
Definitely good for people who want an S2000 but can't afford one. After all, it's still Honda. No competition in the performance sector I anticipate but who knows? Someone might throw a turbine in there to get things going soon.

The (alledged, unannounced) 660 would be *far* smaller than either the MRS or Miata. With it's tiny size it's a microcar - although one with a unique engine. It';s not a competitor to either one.
Just a clue on that one, does anyone how a Honda Beat actually looks like in real life? Definitely something alike. Notice the emphasis on the engine size, it's nothing more ample to power a car of that size to perform in the past and in the future.

The 660 isn't any relation to the Beat, although it is a similarly-sized "microcar". The platform and engine are all-new.
All this is of course rumor, since nothing is announced.
Probably given this economy nothing will happen...????
