How do I file a mechanical lien?
I was wondering how I go about filing a mechanical lien for failure to pay for work rendered. This is for construction work. Thanks alot for your help in advance.

First, it's mechanic's lien, not mechanical lien.
You need to go to the local courthouse. Ask as the information desk and they'll direct you to the proper office. You'll need the name and address of the party who owes you money, and perhaps their phone number. Bring some cash, a checkbook, or a credit card as they'll charge you for filing.
Good luck.

I don't know how it works where you are but down here in Florida, if it's Construction work then you first need to make sure you filed a "NOTICE TO OWNER" in which you advised pretty much everyone that you performed work at a certain location. Then after I beleive 90 days from the completion of work you are able to lien..
Don't hold me to this i am not 100% sure. But i do know a Notice to Owner needs to be filed before a lien is done.
I googled Notice to Owners and found this: http://www.ntoflorida.com/pages/keys.html
You might want to try googling How to file a lien in your area.
Good Luck!
