How do so many young people get disability?
I don't even know what the process is to get disability but I sure am meeting a lot of younger (under 40 years old) people who are on it. They have all figured out how to have kids, but can't work...?? And somehow they figured out the process to get the free $ from disability.
Lots of small kids are getting "SSI" because they have learning disabilities? I have learning disabilities..... anyone who has met me knows that.
Hook me up!!!!!
What a scam.
Unfort, if it were to all end, it would penalize the people who actually need the help and are incapable of working....

oddly enough I am not.......... seems like I say this in every one of my threads...."I am all for helping people, but not people who totally scam the system"
It is simply amazing at how much bullshit I am starting to see. It is not just random any more...it is damn near everyone that I screen.....
I would love to hear how these people suckered disability into believing they were disabled. They do everything a non disabled person does except work..... their kids mostly act normal when I am around and actuall talk to them, but SSI!!!!
I think the disability workers must get a commission for everyone they sign up....

IBTM!!!
The way I see it: they were already in the unemployment line. . . why not make the most of the bus ride down at the county office? I for one, am glad to see more people being efficient.
Sheesh, Scot just doesn't appreciate the hard work of the lazy.

Disability goes to people who are disabled. State disability pays for up to one year, if you are still disabled you get federal disability. Most states give 6 weeks disability to pregnant women. You can get more if you have medical complications.
I worked with a young women with lupus. A horribly disabeling disease; usually people die young, 40's or 50's. She was still working in her late 20's, because her husband, a roofer, had fallen off a roof, broken his back and was on disability. Disability does not pay as much as your job. They had just bought their house and two disability checks would not pay the mortgage. Their plan was to have her keep working until her husband was able to walk again, retrain for a non physical job and work again.
Another young disabled person I know was a coworkers son. He was out partying one night and in an impaired state saw three people breaking into a car. He tried to stop them and they beat him very badly. He lost the vision in one eye, the hearing in one ear and has minor brain damage. (The brain damage makes it hard for him to learn and also makes him prone to anger) He is on permanent federal disability since he was 23 or 24, now about 35.
The third young person I know on disability was a coworkers brother. He was hit by a drunk driver when he was a sophmore in college. He is peralyzed on one side and has brain damage bad enough to have the mentality of a 6 year old. He is in his 40s now. His payments are very low because he only worked part-time while in high school and college. The drunk driver had no insurance and no money, so he got nothing from him.
Some people who are disable do not look bad. Just count your blessings that you are not disabled.

This kind of abuse is just the tip of the iceberg. I can introduce you to some locals who, for some inexplicable reason, have five different PO boxes and social security numbers to their name. Some of them are even reported as being deceased but are alive and doing quite well. Can you say multiple welfare and unemployment checks? How about even life insurance payoffs?
And the really ridiculous part is that the government can't seem to put an end to these people, who don't even have a GED, taking advantage of the system.
I tell you, South Texas must be the biggest breeding ground for shitbags I've ever seen.
