Default How do you dress?

Inspired by the "dad in car at Abercrombie" thread

So now that youth culture has been successfully brainwashed with the likes of Abercrombie, Hollister, American Eagle, etc - and the "unique" dressers shop at Hot Topic (to be different like everybody else) - I find myself in a dilema - where to shop?

When is it time to grow up and ditch the t shirt sayings and trucker hats?

Recently I've started shopping at Express and Banna Republic. Its available, comfortable and priced in line with other brands I usually wear. Also, since its targeted towards a more mature crowd, when I wear it - it looks ****ing great. I fill out the shirts well, the pants, very professional looking and almost tailored.

So what do ya'll wear and why?

how to dress:
look at the people around you, if your co-workers dress in a t-shirt and shorts do something like that but along the lines that you feel good with.

where to shop:
consider the used clothing shops and buy more volume.
buy new but a few items, good quality.

express is nice..but i find their shirt chests are tailored too narrow in relation to their collar size. Also, i have a pair of their jeans and i dont like the way the pant leg openings sit. banana republic is nice...i also shop at jcrew. but for every day stuff, i mostly wear solid colored t shirts (white, black, gray, brown) because they make anything look dressier. jeans from the gap ftw...always cheap and fit right..plus last forever

The funny thing is I think that Bananna Republic is the most over priced store for what you get.

I dress to the next level. That means I dress better than my co-workers, but not better than managers two levels up

Banana Republic and Express, grownup?

Express still sells kids clothes. BR is getting a step closer to "grownup" but you still need to pick and choose. JCREW is hands down the best quality clothing available for the price. Don't get me started on the Gap. How has a company fallen so far? Especially when BR is still halfway decent.

Just about everything in my wardrobe is from Express or Gap. My business attire, which are shirts and slacks are from Express and my casual attire, polo and jeans are either Express or Gap. All of my Jackets are from Gap.

In certain areas, their qualities are the same, as in their Jackets, they have very good quality. But shirts and slacks, are the best all around quality, without paying an arm and a leg for Bananna Republic.

I'm 5'9" and 154lbs., I'm not a big guy, so I want clothes that fit me and not look like my big brother's hand me downs.

Gap, Old Navy, and Kohls....I do enjoy the outlets where I can sometimes find discounted RL Polo, Nautica and Hilfiger polo shirts and such

From my limited experience with Gap shirts, I have determined their clothing is garbage.

I wear dress slacks and a collared button ups to work in the winter spring, and fall, and khaki type slacks and a polo/izod/etc in the summer. Brooks Brothers, Dockers, Nautica, Ralf Lauren, Izod, among others

I agree that the quality from the Gap and Express is similar, but the prices from Express seem a good amount higher.
