How do you shave?
I used to use a razor to shave my face. It gave a real nice smooth shave but every once in a while I got those stupid little red ingrowns or whatever they are (razor burn maybe?) under my chin on my neck. Wasn't a big deal because it usually went away in a day or two. Anyways, now that the holidays are coming around the corner I see all these commercials for Braun Electric Shavers and countless other electrical shavers. And there are so many different kinds! Linear shavers, circular shavers, rotating circular, etc etc. Well I was thinking those look pretty cool and it looks like you dont need shaving cream either.
So are they any good? What products do you guys find gives you the best shave? The quickest? The cleanest? My future face relies on your guys answers!

I have been fighting ingrowns for awhile--mine aren't too severe and I can control them pretty well--I believe that my problem has arisen with the use of the Mach3 razor--the additional blade makes it too close for my skin thus making the hair ingrown.
Some products I highly recommend to fight this:
*a needle and some tweezers to lift the hair out after shaving
*a bottle of tend skin or bumppatrol--basically same stuff, except bumppatrol is
marketed for african ameriancs for some odd reason--cause caucasians such as
myself get it--tend skin is super expensive, whereas bumppatrol is $4 or so at
walmart
*Nivea for men exfoliating scrub--use this every 3 or 4 days on face and neck cause it
helps lift the hairs out.
I hope that helps--it took me awhile to figure this stuff out. But if I keep on top of it, I have almost no red bumps. For me its an annoyance, but some men get it really bad--such that it is to the point of scarring the skin. If you talk to a dermatologist, they will tell you that switching razors probably wont help too much.

It taskes your body about 30 days to get used to an electric shaver. One commercial says "closest shave after 30 days" or something like that.
Just be warned, if your getting one to look good on christmas its not too late, but if you get one on Dec. 25th you wont be super clean shaven until sometime in late January. Google it, I dont know exactly what happens after (or before) 30 days, but something has to get adjusted for the "closest possible shave"

I use a Norelco electric and a mach 3.
No electric razor will ever shave as close as a mach 3, but the convenience and speed of it makes it well worth getting. I only use the mach3 when I have a date or some reason to be completely clean shaven. The Electric does a decent job, but for myself who gets 5:00 shadows, the electric makes it more of a 4:30 shadow.
So I recommend having both
and yes, as said above, it takes a while ot get used to it. Not sure why but your face will hate you the first few times you use the electric.

I use my trusty Mach 3. It is the best damn razor that I have ever used. Leaves my face smoother than a babys bottom.
The next question is... do you guys use shaving cream? I dont, I just use some soap. I have never noticed any difference.
