The kid did it all wrong, he shoulda became a cop and got the badge, then worst case scenario would be paid vacation for him.

I blame video games and TV, oh and the Dems ... Santa Clause.... the tooth fairy .... and of course THE INTERNET! Heaven forbid we blame her upbringing, the moral values her parents taught her and/or just plain old let's blame the person who committed the crime.
Most of the time I would agree with this, but I have met a couple people I would consider sociopaths. There is just something wrong with them that can be fixed. They come from good families, they got plenty of attention and they were raised correctly, but something in their brain is haywire, or you could choose to believe they are just full of evil. They lack something inside that would develop a conscience, or remorse. They manipulate, and calculate and do terrible things and don't have anything inside them that makes them the least bit ashamed.

I would not make an argument that they should be given leniency, or kept from the chair, just that you can't always blame the upbringing or values they were taught. I have seen a couple pieces on TV where people who seemed to be bright reasonable parents were afraid of their own very young children because they were just scary little psychos.

On a side note.......There was a show on Discovery or something called "Most Evil" and it was about a guy who studied serial killers. Went in and interviewed them in prison and got them to open up. One thing he found that nearly all of them had in their history was a head injury. He had a theory that somehow these people damaged a part of the brain that would control violent impulses. A normal person might have a thought, "I'd like to strangle that douchebag." The person with the damaged brain would just go ahead and do it. At least that was his theory.

I'm not really sure why that should be any or our concern. I'm sure it's not the concern of the parents of the girl she killed.
