I know on djforums.com/forums there's a high-level user, Skeyelab, who was one of the original employees with groupon. I believe he still works with them. Btw, to the person hating on groupon: their growth has been ridiculous since its beginning.

IIRC - they were the cover story in a recent issue of Forbes. Growth curve moving faster than any other previous internet based company.

It's weird that this was posted. I recently came up with an idea that I plan to pitch to shazam, soundhound, apple, sony, xbox, Nintendo (Wii) IMDB, HULU, Netflix, youtube, amazon, bestbuy, and walmart.

My idea would revolutionize the accessibility of purchasing movies, TVshows.

I was so excited about this idea but was put off my some emails that really went no where.

My idea is genius or so i think.

Be careful about expectations guys - concept to revenue generation takes a very very very long time. The Video Pod is a new product that took 4 years to go from functional prototype to funded/ready for manufacturing (then Apple slapped them with an IP lawsuit, ouch). As well, the company you want to approach should already have their strategy for the next few years lined out - they may not understand how to adopt what you present or even have the resources to integrate it into their existing strategy. Another thought: of all the ideas I've had, the ones that involve cooperation of other businesses are the least viable.

Is Groupon solvent yet? If they are still running on investment it's going to be really hard for them to add another team for another product. Their budget has been worked out well into the future, they can't just go change it.

I've been through too many Internet based startups by now - hell I don't even want to try to compete in that space. The unfortunate truth is that bad ideas can make money too (Facebook) and the only way to "win" is to get substantially lucky (or screw people and rip off your friends, like Facebook), good idea or not.

Personally, I've had a number of really good ideas over the past 15 years and some of them wound up being products brought to market by other companies. Originally I had kicked myself for not acting and getting my piece of the pie - now that I'm older I realize I don't have the capital to actually accomplish that stuff. Damn reality.

Don't let me prevent you from any action - just keep your expectations real.

Yes i do know this...but that doesn't have anything to do with my idea. My idea would involve a certain aspect of getting a good deal, that would tie into the whole country. Not just a local niche market, or anything like that.
