Should be audio and video cables that plug into the receiver. If it's really old then it can be just wires and no plug.

Some newer units have the audio and video combined into ONE cable.

You can buy the cables at radio shack for fairly cheap.

You should at least have RCA cables. Plug them into the RCA out on the tv, and into RCA ins on the reciever (for video 1, tv, etc). Then select the appropriate setting on the reciever (video 1, tv, etc) and you should hear sound. You may need to also set your tv to do audio out through RCA, not through the internal speakers.

Audio Out from on the Back of the TV ----> TV In on the back of the receiver. That's how mine are labeled.

I just moved, and had sort of forgotten how many wires I've got running all over the place behind my entertainment unit. Quite the headache trying to put it all back together (TV, VCR[not sure why I still have it], DVD, 2 Game consoles, CD player).

What sort of TV signal do you have? Rabbit-ear antenna? Direct cable connection? Cable box? Satellite box?

Check your audio output setting on the TV. Make sure it is set for fixed level output to connect to your receiver. This setting should automatically turn off your TV's internal speakers. The connection should be made with the red/white RCA jacks marked audio out L/R on the TV and TV audio in L/R on the receiver.

also i wanted to get a subwoofer, but i looked behind my amp and it doesnt have a subwoofer input. I went to crutchfield and i saw a picture of the back of the sub and it has multiple inputs. I am confused how you connect a sub to your amp? i thought you just connect the sub to the amp with regular speaker wires like all the other speakers. can someone clarify what all these inputs are on the back of this sub?

If you buy a powered sub, you won't want to amp it. Honestly, I'd ditch the amp and just buy a new receiver that has enough internal power.
