Yes and No. I own my own home, so during the week, I usually spend 2-3 nights a week maintaining the yard/cleaning the house/housework in general. On the weekends I don't do any of that stuff, I try to spend it having fun. I think part of the problem is that my hobbies/interests are not very popular with the females. Well, I am really interested in finance/economics/investing which may be a little bit more mainstream, but I'm just really not sure where I'd find a club, especially one with people my age.

i stick with my previous statement

your life IS BORING. i can't blame you as i live the exact same way. luckily for me i have a wife and good group of friends since i haven't moved too far in years.

you're really going to have to make the extra effort and do something that you wouldn't normally do.

when i was getting kind of lonely and out of the loop an old roommate talked me into playing beach volleyball all day every Sunday in our apartment complex. i wasn't interested in doing it initially, but did so anyway for about a year. there were times i could barely walk/move on Mondays and i swore i wouldn't go back, but i loved playing and interacting with everyone.

all in all i didn't make any lifelong friends there, but it kept me from getting that weird shut-in vibe that a lot of single guys get. my personality and sense of humor stayed really strong from it and i looked forward to getting up to go play. i also had a decent tan and a killer 6-pack from the excruciating workouts i'd get out there.

i met my wife towards the end of the volleyball era at an unrelated event. she'd come over and would watch us play (and me interact with other women ) and cook us a sunday dinners. i'm pretty sure those times played into the initial courtship.

go find something to do and the rest of life kinda happens.

A good example of a need to take it one step further. Find something either related to it, or often linked to it, and go from there. The finance/economics/investing is the ground level interest, but not the fun hobby. It should remain in the background until it's called upon.

If you really can't think of anything, sign up for a golf class or something.

You already know what to do. I'm assuming you:
1. Interested in cars
2. Found and enjoyed the S2000
3. Wanted to learn more/find other owners, so you joined s2ki
4. Might have then gotten into participating with others with your S2000 (meets, track days, etc.)

The interest in cars is the ground level, like the financial interests. Step 1 doesn't take you very far in terms of relationship building.

The Houston S2ki group is very active, you should attend their events and join in their online ruckus.

Also the 2nd TX all state meet (mostly centex area)

Doing other new activities will open up more windows and opportunities for other things to happen.

If you visit the Central TX region let me know.

It looks like I found exactly what I was looking for. There is a network called the Young Adult Professionals, and they're broken up by cities, it's available in cities other then Houston as well. Unlike Events and Adventures, it's completely free to join. It is essentially a forum where people organize meets, such as happy hours, sports like sand volleyball and even trips. I joined their forum and I'll try to make it to some of their events.

Why would that be a sausage party? I'm pretty sure that there are female professionals as well...
