Default How much money can you make on online ads

I've got an idea for a website which I could put ads on to generate some extra income each month. What I'm trying to figure out is how much money I can make? Does anyone have a formula that I could use to figure out? How would I estimate the amount of traffic that would visit the website? How would I plan for bandwidth?

Can someone please share their experiences on the subject.

I owned a fairly big MP3 website 8-9 years ago and my only source of income was through online ads. I was making $800-$1000 consistently every month. Looking back on it, I had no idea was I was doing ad-wise, and probably could have pulled in 3-4 times that if I did it right. But hey I was 15.. I didn't care.

I don't remember the URL's but there are free sites that allow you to keep detailed track of all your visitors. I heard Google Ads pays pretty well.. but I haven't done anything with websites in years so wait on some other input.

How many hits were you getting in order to make $800-$1000/month?

I know that EVERY Google employee makes $1M+ each year in online ads, so the sky is the limit if a) you are willing to spend some money up front and b) you know what you are doing.

I'm willing to do a) but I have no clue about b).

So for every 750 unique visitors each month, you make $1? Does that sound right? Anybody else?
