How was the guy a scammer? He did everything the guy asked him to do and I can guarantee it took quite a while.

The "scammer scammer" is an idiot. Nowhere do I see the "writer" making an attempt to scam, though he did ask for money up front. He didn't get it BUT he did still complete the writing work.
