How to sell parts?
Hi guys. Im trying to figure out where most aftermarket places get their parts from and how hard it is to start selling parts. when i say parts, im not talking about the cheap extremedimensions kits, and apc parts.
who wholesales good quality parts for the engine, interior, exterior? how hard is it to start seling these parts, do you have to buy so many pieces at a time for a good price? any other info would help, thank you.

For most companies, there is a buy in to get parts at discounted prices. Then there are different tiers of the buy in. The higher the buy in price the deeper the discount is. This in not with every company but most. Now some companies won't even consider letting you buy in with out references or financial backing and others won't let you buy in if there is already a distributor in your area. Take options for example, i'm sure they have the deepest buyin for all the companies they sell that and it is not hard for them to get other companies due to their reputation and the volume of parts they move. Also, some companies once you buy in to them require you to purchase a certain amount of the their product per month which then really sucks if you can't move their product. You need a lot of capital if you want to be a wholeseller or distributor.
hope that helps

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there are certain permits or licenses that are required, such as a tax ID number, to be able to place orders from wholesalers and resell items. I don't think the average joe can place orders with most wholesalers and resell to the public.
hum...this is going to take some work. i figured i would need a tax id # if i had a store, im not sure if i wanted to sell out of my basement. most companies have started this way.
anyone else have input?

You will need a business liscense and tax id number to be able to get wholesale to buy in. You need a warehouse if you are going to order parts at buyin prices if you are not going to get deep buyin discounts then it pointless to even try because there are many other businesses that can bet the price you will get.
