I had a sales girl call me, trying to get me to subscribe to the Houston Chronicle. I told her I wasn't interested and she came back with, "Can you do it for me?" in this soft, pleading, and yet flirty tone.
I laughed. I mean, really, a complete stranger asking me to do something for her, as if she somehow mattered to me or that I'd care about making her happy. I wonder if she got anyone else using that line...

Actually, I believe most telcos will now reduce your monthly rate if you call in and threaten to cancel service (assuming you aren't under contract).

I'm saving about 60% on my cable/internet/phone because I called in and told them I was switching to the other provider (which I actually planned to). They put together an amazing package for me with 15mb internet, huge tv package including HD channels, and a phone line with unlimited North American calling and 500 minutes to anywhere in Europe.
Then they threw in a free HD PVR for me as well, for telling them the exact package their competition was offering me. Not bad, I'd say.
