I appreciate the concern for moral standards in America, but a lot Howard Stern's "tasteless" humor is simply an act. I would bet good money that Howard Stern did not appreciate that statement from this "follower" of his, and if he feels the need to explain that to his listeners, he will. I listened to Howard Stern on the morning of September 11th and he in no way poked fun at any of it.

My point is that one bad celebrity is the initiator of these types of behavior. I know there may be some morons that might do something like this, but Howard loves the publicity he gets with it.
Unfortunately, one of the ideals this country was founded on was free speech. I've heard a lot worse examples of free speech than the one you cited that I would defend. I don't like the insensitivity of the comments made by the Stern follower but I'd give up my life defending his right to say it.

Speedracer,

I guess I'm in the minority of people who scratch their heads and wonder how Howard Stern and Rush Limbaugh get the audiences they do. Some days, I have the distant hope that they, like Caroll O'Conner's Archie Bunker, are just parodies of what they portray.

However, I have the same ill-fated hope about Eminem, but every word out of his mouth gives me less and less hope that his IQ has a chance of moving above room temperature. I suppose Howard and Rush's ratings, and Eminem's sales numbers prove that the majority is right, and I'm wrong.

Oh well...

Tim

Actually Marshall Mathers is quite an intelligent human being - perhaps not the wisest of all people, but he has an enormous vocabulary and uses it skillfully. The fact that he doesn't give a shit about what the media or the parents of his teenage listeners think of him doesn't make him stupid.

I beg to differ with you Lee. His enormous vocabulary )along with others of his ilk) is tainting the minds of the youth of today because the parents/teachers can't keep an eye on the kids every minute. When this country begins to have his "intelligence" we're all doomed. IMHO.

I agree, but that doesn't make him stupid - just uncaring.

I wish we all could just be transported back to the 50's when everything was perfect. No wars and it never rained. A time before rap existed to corrupt our childrens minds. Things could be good again if it wasn't for that gosh darn Bill of Rights.
