Default Hows your Chinese?

At least I think it's Chinese. Might be something else, it might be upside down.

Anyway I was going through some old family albums and found this pic with writing on the back.

Anyone tell me what it says?

Thanks

Thanks Wantone

No kidding on the nails. That's the first thing I saw. I wonder what he was master of or do you think that part is his name?

Hmmm... My Chinese is not very good, but here is what I think it says:

(Chinese) Republic 32nd year
4th month 24th day
Honorable Parents together picture taken in Yang Zhou

The Chinese keep track of the years by the "dynasties" (the Japanese also do the same), and the "(Chinese) Republic" is just another dynasty like the Ching or the Ming dynasty. Because the (Chinese) Republic started in 1911, the 32nd year would be 1943.

Yang Zhou is a place, I have no idea where it is in China though.

I am sure others who know more Chinese can correct me.

This is the more correct translation. The 1st pic should be posted horizontally.

I thought this was going to be some derrogatory post with words like:

hyu chin tu fat

or

wa hyu hi ding

but it was actually interesting!

Yeah, me too. I often wonder what the characters that teenage girls have tattooed on them say. Probably "Stupid White girl" or something like that.
