Sleep depravation only occurs if you are only sleeping 1 to 2 hours a night. Six to eight hours a night is normal and common in most people. Relax, you've just adapted to dormitory life. No worries. Your minds just to busy with all those things you haven't done or need to do. Guess what they'll be there tomorrow and you can finish them then.

Generally the older you get the less sleep you need. If you're going around in a daze and not thinking quickly take some action.

Try some hard exercise (swimming is good), you will naturally want to sleep more.
I personally wish I needed less sleep.

3mg Melatonin 1/2 hour before bedtime... you should be able to find it at your local drug store.

Believe it or not, milk really helps and it doesn't even have to be warm!

first of all, is this lack of sleep affecting your life?
do you find yourself falling asleep during the during the day?
if so, try to cut out caffeine after 12:00pm.
try to cut out nicotine if you smoke.
if you nap during the day, try to go the whole day without it.

most importantly, set a time to sleep and try to keep to it consistent everyday (even weekends). set up your alarm for 8 hours accordingly.

if your mind races with a lot of thoughts or worries, write them down and forgetting about them.

the college years can be stressful. early morning awakenings could be a sign of depression. don't be afraid to get help.
