I can walk!
I walked unassisted -- some distance -- last night for the first time since my hip replacement surgery. No walker (in the house when I'm being lazy) or cane (when I'm out and about). There's still some pain in my hip. I still have issues with my pinched sciatic nerve and pain and numbness down my right leg, not to mention recovery from my separated shoulder, but I just made a quantum leap progresswise. My home physical therapy insurance coverage ran out on Monday (last session) and I started inpatient physical therapy on Wednesday at a clinic in Montrose very close to my home. I'm riding a recombinant exercise bike and using machines with weight resistance, among other things. I've got one week to get in shape for the three days of the Long Beach Grand Prix, which involves lots of walking and climbing up and down grandstands, and I'm going to bust my butt between now and then, including ice and electrical stim. I'm really encouraged. Hoo, hoo!!!
