I Sorry that you got scammed, and I can understand how you feel. I lose $3000.00 try to get some land cleared to build a house. I wanted to take him to court, but the lawyer said that I would be throwing more money away. In Texas, this guy can show that he doesn't own anything, it is all leased, and so there would be nothing for me to collect.

For anyone else looking to buy and sell expensive goods on ebay try using an online escrow service. I used it when I sold my $1400 Roland keyboard. It worked out fine and both parties were happy with the outcome.

Glad it all worked out. Credit Cards are actually very good for avoiding getting stung by fraud. When you dispute a charge, the merchant is sent a chargeback notice. They have a small amount of time to prove that the transaction is legit by sending in slips, invoices, bills of lading and so forth. Basically the merchant has to prove that the charge is legit. If they can't, VISA/MC/AMEX whomever will simply take back the money they gave the merchant for your purchase. You will be credited regardless of whether they can collect.

Jaded41,

I too am sorry that you had to go through all the turmoil you did. Reading this message was very educational in that is points out the problems one could encounter with Ebay and PayPal, and some possible solutions in trying to resolve them. I was however, surprised by one of your messages:

"AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I just pulled up to another silverstone S2000 and it had a hardtop on it! Man, that sucks. It should be me cruising the streets with my hardtop, not this other punk. If it wasn't for the fact that I have PIMPASS Work wheels and he only had the stock, I would have been really upset. "

I don't know if Jaded41 means you are 41 years old or not, but quite frankly your message above was in line with a spoiled 5 year old.

Jaded41, thanks for posting your experience. I do buy on line and your experience helps a lot.

I recently bought a $835 communications receiver from a member of a yahoogroups group. The original money order NEVER showed up at the seller's. I sent him a new one and sat on pins and needles while I awaited a refund for the "lost" one. Two months later it came. It turns out there is NO STOP PAYMENT feature for bank money orders. I'll not do that again.

In September I bought a Sony ICF2010 for $209 on ebay. The seller was slow to deliver. The radio arrived DOA and the seller promised to send me the info to make an insurance claim. He never did. In the end, I fixed the radio myself. I spent three hours taking it apart and cleaning the contacts. I got it working satisfactorily so I wasn't out anything but time. But he never complied did what he promised. If I hadn't wanted to risk fixing it, I'd have been out the $209.

This seller had SIX BAD EBAY COMMENTS, but all appeared after the close of my auction, so I had no forewarning. So, the ebay feedback section is very useful, but not perfect. Look up this seller if you want to see the details: khalid93 or auction number: Item # 1273331532 .

In a group buy on this board, my shipment of Muz's trunk liner got lost by FedEx after reshipment in the U.S.A. My costs were about $130 but the FedEx insurance was only for $100 plus $9 FedEx costs, so I lost a few dollars. Now I specify "insurance for full amount." In the future, I'd buy directly from Muz rather than group buy.

Having said all these negative things, most of my on line transactions work out 100% okay. However, it is so easy to steal during on line purchases. Your experience is a very important warning. I've had about ten more on line transactions on this board. I've had several with Rick Hesel, one with shaner, one with Lucid, one with tedster, one with mingster, one with Giampiero, and all worked out great.

ADDED LATER:
and MUZ, of course. Muz is among the BEST!!!!!!!!! and he lives where all the most beautiful girls love, on the Gold Coast, QLD, AU.

I hope you see more of your cash back.

Hey bro I'm VERY sorry to hear about what happened to ya, that totally sucks. I've been screwed before but not for that much......OUCH!!

Have you posted negitve feedback for him on ebay?

Sometime that ticks them off enough to start e-mailing you again and then you can trace tham. I assume you've told safeharbor@ebay about him. Ck also to make sure the others that have been taken do the same thing. My father has some friends in the FBI I can call them for you if you like.
LMK I'm sure he'd be happy to help

If his account is off on ebay just ck it every day he seems pretty stupid so he'll click it back on soon enough. Then you can act let a new bidder and get all the info on him then call the FBI with that info and get the dirty ba$!@rd.

Anyway LMK if I can help.

Later John

JRM has a VERY good suggestion in regards to using an Escrow Service. It is very inexpensive, it doesn't take long to set up and handle transactions and it protects ALL parties.

If the person is legit, then they shouldn't have an issue with it. It is just another way of delivering and excepting money.

I sold a piano I had this way (the buyer suggested it) and was very please with the way it was handled by everyone.

Good luck to you Jaded44, I hope things work out.
