I hate being on speaker phones......

What I hate too are people that dial my number on speakerphone and then pick up the phone when I answer so I'm greeted with this loud clang and click as they pick up their receiver. It's even worse when they don't do this and try to carry on the conversation still on speaker phone though.

It's the "I'm so busy I don't have time to pick up the handset unless you're going to answer."
One of my bosses does do that though, usually when he and I are having a conversation with each other and don't want to stop talking unless the person answers. That way we both know what's happening on the phone.

Maybe this is one of those, "you had to be there" moments, but funny nonetheless.

I use speakerphone if I'm referencing documents or drawings - I need the use of my hands, a calculator, and or my computer, usually.
Otherwise, I just pick up the handset. More private and people hear you a lot better.

I've got a wireless Plantronics CS50 headset and it's sweet. No wires, freedom to walk around the office disturbing everyone while I'm making calls, I even go outside for 
while I'm on the phone if it not too windy for the headset mic.
