If you just discovered the money that means you don't need it. I'd buy a CD (certificate of deposit) so later when you need it you'll make some more money off of it.

I would buy stock in

XMSR XM Satilite Radio
NXTP Nextel Partners
NXTL Nextel
SIRI Sirius

Or go the CD route. Either way put that money to work for you since you didn't know about it in the first place.

Save the money until you get out of college, add some to it if you can, and as soon as you get a stable source of income, use it as a downpayment on a place to live, house, condo, townhome. If you start owning as soon as you can rather than renting for several years out of college, you will be lightyears ahead of most people your age. My worthless $.02

put it into an ING account. they currently give you 2.1% interest and you can withdraw anytime you want with no minimum.

Open a Roth IRA.

Ok...not the most exciting suggestion, but one day you might be happy you did.

This thread is still alive? He's decided to put it into his savings and not give it to me. So topic closed!

Yeah I stuck it in the savings instead of just hiding it in my room or stuffing some in my wallet. I still want to start my IRA account but that other account that one guy said with the 2.1% seems interesting. I'll ask my dad about it.
