babygrass, have you ever thought about interning at a magazine or a publishing house? interning is the best way to get your foot in the door and get a sense of what these businesses are all about and whether you like it or not. plus it is a great way to meet people in the business who can give you good solid advice if you do choose that path. some places might not pay a lot and some places give you school credit instead of monetary pay, but the experience is worth more than that, esp. when you're young. but some places (like my company) treat interns particularly well. we give them the experience of what entry-level employees get plus they get paid overtime AND get to go to Disney World for 5 days all expense paid!!
