Great suggestions everyone thanks to all!

Anyone have any specific experience with NLE desktop video. I'm finding lot of general suggestions, no real focus on building or buying a system tuned for Video Editing.

This much I know:

A fast FSB and RAM (and lot's of it).
An recomendations on video cards (for video editing, not gaming).

And please, no crazy talk about this company being a scam, because that's complete horseshit. You psycho mac nuts know what I'm talking about.

No not really, but I was trying guess what you were talking about :

All I saw was a copy of the apple.com site, so I guess I don't understand what the so called scam is, please tell.

I don't think anyone's really addressed your video card issues. As far as I know the only video cards that seem to fit your needs for video editing and the like are from ATi. Their All-In-Wonder series most likely has everything you need. TV in, TV out TV tuner all included on the video card that has a pretty well proven Radeon graphics processor. I'm sure there are more powerful ones out there but I don't think these cards can be beat for an all in one package.

As for the debate about AMD vs Intel, well regardless of what people like more the trend seems to be that AMD is usually cheaper than Intel and the processing speeds dont' seem all that different to me for the price. Besides, I don't think AMD's overheat unless you start overclocking.

Btw, I just build a computer pretty decent computer for my uncle for around $600. AMD XP2600+ processor and 512 DDR RAM. I know its not the best out there but building one yourself is really much cheaper.

For the Mac people, personally I think Macs are great, especially when you need to upgrade them. So simple just toss the old one out the window and plop down a ton for a new one
